Lawson CUE11 One Week Later

A week ago today, the Lawson Customer User Exchange conference, or CUE for short, closed in Boston. While CUE is extremely busy, it’s also one of my favorite times of year because I have the opportunity to meet with a large number of Lawson customers from all over the world. It’s an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and also to socialize a little. We get to know each other as people rather than just business partners.

After a week’s time, here are some of my reflections on CUE11:

  • Celebrating the “U” in CUE – Customers not only attended the conference, they presented sessions, told their stories on main stage, and participated in panel discussions and roundtables. They were the focus and feedback has been positive.  This year’s theme of celebrating the “U” in CUE simply worked.
  • What is the Cloud? – While the topic of  “cloud computing” may be well known to those in the software/technology space, clearly the business community at large is still grappling with exactly what “the cloud” is and more importantly how it impacts day-to-day life.  We need to spend more time educating you about “the cloud.”  Lesson learned.
  • The Pain is Real – Even though customers are still trying to understand the cloud, the burden of managing servers, networks, applications, patches and upgrades is very real. We clearly heard that you want out of this cycle.  It’s a tremendous opportunity for Lawson Cloud and Managed Services, and Lawson in general, to communicate with you regularly about it.

CUE11 was my eighth CUE conference. True to form, it was an action-packed 5 days. I learned a great deal in all the meetings, presentations, sessions and in the important dialogues I had with you. It never ceases to amaze me how much you share with us if we only take the time to listen.
