Barriers to Cloud Adoption – Is Connectivity the Next Big Issue?

For the last two years, security and privacy have dominated the discussion concerning barriers to Cloud adoption, but has connectivity been overlooked? The Register published a new report, Cloud Connectivity – Carefully Does It, that explores this question and whether or not organizations are overly optimistic about their existing communications infrastructure being able to support a growing number of Cloud/SaaS applications that require constant connectivity.

The report concludes that the consensus on the whole is communications infrastructure isn’t considered a major barrier to the adoption of Cloud services. That said, this opinion is based on subjective feeling rather than objective experience due to the relatively low adoption of Cloud to this point. Regardless, we believe The Register’s recommendation is solid. Due diligence of your communications infrastructure should be an important part of your analysis in considering a Cloud-based service critical to running your business.
