Cloud Transformation

Clouds can form quickly, but transforming your business takes time.

We are witnessing a significant transformation of Information Technology.  Like the Industrial Revolution of the 17^th and 18^th century when production of goods moved from single unique/custom units to mass produced commodity items, computing power and the manner in which organizations consume technology is undergoing a very similar transformation.  Organizations are starting to understand, and accept, that they no longer need to generate all of their own computing power.  ‘Servers’ are moving from highly customized/configured machines to commodity computing platforms.  As such, IT itself is transforming.  Conversations about patching operating systems and applying security updates are changing to conversations about growth and using technology to ‘take’ market share.  While there is no doubt that this transformation is exciting, what is important to remember is that transformation of any kind takes time.  The accompanying infographic depicts this reality by examining the past, present, and future of enterprise software and the cloud. This view represents what we at Lawson are seeing and experiencing, but we would certainly like to hear your stories.
